M.S.C was founded in 2011. The style we teach is called Jissen Jitsu. Translated this means 'Real fighting technique'. Our instructors have a wide range in martial arts back grounds and after years of training have devised the Jisssen Jitsu syllabus.
This comprises of self defence techniques, weapon defence, sparring or stand-up work, escrima (stick fighting), CQC techniques, throws and grappling, tanto jutsu (knife fighting) and groundwork.
The system can be used by anyone no matter age or fitness level, though we only teach weapons to higher level children and adults.
We feel the system is useful to someone beginning martial arts as it has a wide variety. We also feel that it would compliment any style or system that you already do.
Any questions you may have about what we do exactly, do not hesitate to contact us or drop by one of our classes, where an instructor will gladly help in any way.
All our instructors are fully insured, CRB checked and have first aid training as standard. Read a bit more about each of our instructors below.
Life is unpredictable and unstable and your exercise routines should mimic this in a way that uses all your natural body movements. This means you should move away from exercise machines that isolate muscle group and start training whole body movements. When your brain controls muscle movement, it does this by using whole body movements and not isolating individual muscles. Your body is not designed to move that way. Think about the way a well condition UFC fighter moves, they are strong, powerful and at the same time move gracefully. Their whole body movement is synchronised when they strike or go for a takedown. In a MMA Fighter Fit class you will train your body like a UFC fighter by using a variety of different practical exercises that use body weight and resistance training aids, which will challenge your entire body in every plane of motion. These exercises will take you from standing to prone positions and it is this constant change in level that will help you to burn off the extra calories. Your balance will be challenged by these exercises and this will tax multiple muscle groups in the way they are designed to be used. These exercises are used by professional UFC fighters, who are regarded as elite athletes for good reason. They train using basic movement patterns that use pushing, pulling, hinging, squatting, rotating, carrying and gait patterns (walking and running), however you will perform them in a safe environment where you will not be hit. The aim of MMA Fighter Fit is to allow you to reach your fitness goals and this is a high intensity exercise programme, and if you put your maximum effort into it you can burn off over 900 calories per class. The classes we run are based on the famous ‘Burn with Kearns’ programme. Kenny Strode trained with Kevin Kearns and qualified as a coach under his tutorage. Kevin Kearns was voted as one of the UFC’s top ten core and strength and conditioning coaches and as trained many famous fighters. If you are interested in trying a MMA Fighter Fit class come along to the club and try a complimentary free lesson on us.
